"Knight of the golden palette."
|
"Fellow artists seemed to gravitate towards Birgit", Ingeborg writes in "De unge". The two artists at Ekeberg soon became the center of a creative environment.
"It is great inspiration to know that other artists are working and creating along with you."
|
Ingeborg describes how she has received inspiring "replies" from other artists, and adds:
"In similar ways I have been able to respond to a few musicians and painters with my writing".
This response was clearly appreciated by the painters, since they made her a "knight of the golden palette" - an informal proof of regard. With the honour came a verse, playing on Ingeborg's family name "Hagen" ("garden") and her admiration for the author Kinck:
|
Ingeborg is "knighted".
|
"Ingeborg of Fair Garden -
better servant noone knows -
where she first for Kinck bends down,
everybody else follows"
