Ingeborg believed that art and literature belonged to the people. The people had a right to access their artworks unabridged. With this attitude she questioned the practise of theatre directors who cut and changed the original texts to suit their taste, and the state of the Norwegian theatre when great drama was not played because of the theatre economy. And with this attitude she herself staged the works the institutions did not play, or played abridged versions of. Playing un-shortened versions was sometimes a demanding task for an amateur ensemble. Kinck's "Den siste gjest" was played in the Fredheim living room, lasting 9 hours with intervals! The Suttung theatre ensemble started out as "in-house theatre" - rehearsing small pieces and performing in living rooms. Not until their experience and the scale of the work grew, did they find a stage.
