The Wergeland FestivalTangen, June 17th, 1998. Ingeborg continued the tradition from the pre-war festival on the date of the poet Henrik Wergeland's death. And her pedagogic thoughts and imagination literally flowered when she gave the festival its form. It is celebrated with a procession of people carrying huge, colourful flowers of paper. Ingeborg herself made the flowers - thousands every year! Of course the young students living at Fredheim helped her, and some of them invented new elements, but every single flower went through Ingeborg's hands and was reviewed and accepted by her in person. Ingeborg had learnt some colour theory from her painter friends Nicolai Astrup and Birgit Abrahamsen and developed it through experimenting with the flowers. The result is an annual river of colours through the Tangen summer landscape.
